OKI continues to use it's remarkable LED array design to deliver the image to the surface of the OPC drum units. The Digital LED array chips are the light source and are embedded in a solid strip above and across the length of the drum, each Digital LED light source shining at ninety degrees straight down onto the drum to ensure precise printing. Since no moving parts are involved in the Digital LED's optical printing unit, Digital LED printers are compact in size whilst offering high reliability. The OKI 9600/9800 printer cartridges are the single pass in-line horizontal format traditional with existing OKI colour LED printers, although the 9600/9800 printers preferring to deliver the print image in Landscape format.(Below)
In a change from the older models the NEW OKI 9600/9800 printer removes the waste toner via a tube assembly at the back of the printer. Previously, the waste toner was fed back into the waste chamber section of the hopper unit, which was removed when the toner hopper was replaced. (Below)
On the OKI 9600/9800 printers, the waste toner tube also picks up the Transfer belt waste toner along the way, again another change from previous printer models, when waste toner from the transfer belt was stored in a toner trap below the transfer belt, and removed when the transfer belt was replaced. Now the waste toner from the transfer system joins into a continuous waste toner feed towards one collection point. (Below)
All waste toner is finally delivered via the tube and spring to the waste collection chamber situated at the front of the OKI 9600/9800 printer. (Below)
OKI has also included to their new fleet of Colour LED printers, C3300,C5600,C5800,C5900,C9600 & C9800 a RFID Chip fitted to each hopper with chip sensor receivers fitted to the inside of the printer hood. Which of course contribute towards controlling the print management systems.

Although this chip is classed as a 'Killer' chip, in the respect that it stops the user from printing, until the hopper unit is replaced with a NEW unit, in AQC Group UK testing we have found that once the chip threshold has been reached, turning the printer off and on again allows for one extra print job to be made. Clearly this situation will become unacceptable for users, especially in the large network environment these printers will be used. (Below)
Refilling the hopper unit is a straightforward removal of the filler 'bung' on the side of the hopper unit. refilling with AQC Group compatible replacement OKI C9600/9800 toner, and replacing the cartridge chip with AQC Group's compatible replacement cartridge chip.
