AQC Group Test Results for OKI C5600Starter CartridgesThe OKI C5600 colour LED printer arrived with four starter cartridges. These cartridges contain only a small amount of toner; they also do not contain chips and visibly look different to OKI’s main replacement cartridge.
How they work – Each printer is factory set to provide a limited amount of pages using the starter hopper unit. At a pre-determind point the printer will no longer accept any further starter cartridges. Just enough toner is contained within the starter hopper units to achieve this set limit.
Example:

One common error is to mistake the starter hopper unit, for the genuine chipped replacement hopper unit. In the picture above, we show the easiest way to spot a starter hopper unit, this has only two vents which are coloured blue when closed. The correct chipped replacement hopper has three vents and in most cases is coloured black when closed.
OKI Hopper Unit ChipsEach replacement Hopper unit purchased will contain an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Chip. RFID cards are also known as "proximity", "proxy" or "contactless cards”. Passive RFID tags have no internal power supply. The minute electrical current induced in the antenna by the incoming radio frequency signal provides just enough power for the CMOS integrated circuit in the tag to power up and transmit a response. Most passive tags signal by backscattering the carrier signal from the reader. This means that the antenna has to be designed to both collect power from the incoming signal and also to transmit the outbound backscatter signal. The response of a passive RFID tag is not necessarily just an ID number; the tag chip can contain non-volatile EEPROM for storing data.

When the replacement hopper unit is placed into the existing drum unit, and the printer cover is closed, the chip communicates with the printer. The printer proceeds to override the existing information it has been using regarding the fused starter cartridges, and the print requests are allowed to resume. The chip send/receivers for the printer are located on the underside of the printer lid.
In the above two pictures, we show the chip is situated behind a small plastic clip, this can be gently lifted away to reveal the chips location.
AQC Group provides replacements for OKI C5600/5700 C5800/5900 PrintersLocal Area NetworkThe OKI printers all arrived with Ethernet Networking ports, which considering the delivered price we paid, is another plus point from OKI. Simply plug the printer into the network, and request it through IP address or Printer name. The information is delivered via your internet browser and is user friendly.
From here we have control of the printer, we can view, print jobs, print errors, network security, task manager, access the ADMIN section and importantly view the component and chip usages
OPC DRUM UNITSOKI in Europe has significantly reduced the cost of replacement OPC drum units, from around £70 for C3200/C5200 units, to approximately £20 for OKI C5600/C5800 drum units. Again this is another plus point for users to buy OKI original components. Also, the AQC Group replacement compatible toner is specifically designed to work with the OEM OKI OPC drum units.
From the outside the OPC Drum unit appears to have not changed from the older C5200/C3200 drum units.

On closer inspection, some modifications have been made. OKI have incorporated a new way of delivering the Toner Out information to the printer. Gone is the magnet inside the Hopper unit, instead for these drum units now contain a series of gears, with a small revolving ‘paddle’ which blocks and locks in place when the toner drops below the acceptable low level, a sensor bar is used to measure when the toner level is too low.
Also OKI has continued with the same method of notifying the printer when the Drum unit has reached its end of life. Although this has been moved slightly inside the drum unit, and is now not so obvious it will cause no problems for those who are familiar with this resetting procedure. AQC Group.AQC Photo Enhanced Glossy Replacement TonerThe AQC Group UK compatible replacement C5600/5700 & C5800/5900 toner incorporates a completly new design in toner particle size and shape, it has reduced PSD to better match to the OEM, providing greater stability and minimized offset, allowing for greater colour comparison and yield matching.
As an example in life testing the cartridges with AQC replacement toner we ran 7000 impressions of continuous printing with the new AQC replacement toner, including using one set of AQC Group replacement chips, & original worn OPC drums and recorded our results:
We believe AQC repalcement toner provides an excellent cost saving opportunity for a compataible unit, including a toner and chip combination.
