Remanufacturing the HP LaserJet P4014 64a Cartridge• 64a cartridge is compatible with LaserJet P4014/P4015/P4515
• 64x cartridge is compatible with LaserJet P4015/4515
Step 1 - To remove the drum shutter• From the none spring side of the cartridge lift out the metal arm of the drum shutter
• From the spring side of the cartridge pull out the plastic arm
• Using a small flat blade screwdriver, push the plastic pin back to lift out the drum shutter arm
Step 2 – Remove the end plates
• There are 5 screws on both sides of the cartridge which must be removed
• Lift away the end caps which separates the two sections of the 64a cartridge
Step 3 – The OPC Drum section
• Remove one screw and lift out the white plastic end plate, the OPC drum lifts out from the unit.
• Remove the PCR roller and clean the roller with soft damp (with water) cotton cloth. Allow to dry.
• Remove and clean wiperblade
• Replacing the OEM OPC unit is optional – we suggest for best print image quality the OPC drum should always be replaced. If you do replace the OPC drum, it’s also advisable the wiperblade is also replaced.
• When replacing the PCR roller it is advisable to ‘dab’ the black contact housing for the PCR roller with a small amount of contact grease.
Step 4 – The Hopper unit
• Remove the plastic double pin from the gear end of the magnetic roller.
• Remove the white gear from the end of the magnetic roller
• Lift out the metal pin from the other side of the cartridge
• Remove one screw and lift out the end plate
• Lift out the magnetic roller – we suggest cleaning the magnetic roller with compressed air only.
• Remove the two larger screws to release the doctor-blade. Clean the doctor-blade – we suggest wiping clear with a soft damp (with water) cotton cloth.
Step 5 - Refill with Toner The AQC Group replacement toner for the HP 64a type cartridge is currently in development and further information will be available shortly.
Step 6 - Remove and replace the cartridge chip
• Place a small flat blade screwdriver underneath the edge of each side of the plastic holding the chip in place and gently prise away the leading tip.
• Lift out the old chip and replace with new compatible replacement
